Measuring Height with Ultrasonic Sensors

Measuring Height with Ultrasonic Sensors

Sometimes ultrasonic sensors are just for fun! Senix's ultrasonic distance sensors are typically used to measure stack height, wave height, crop height and more. At HealthWorks! Children’s education center in Tupelo, Mississippi, ToughSonic® ultrasonic sensors are measuring the height of energetic children. ts-healthworks-01.jpg

HealthWorks! is an innovative organization educating children and their families on the importance of good nutrition, exercise, and healthy life choices. The Tupelo location, which opened in 2009, is a full-scale replication of the first HealthWorks! in South Bend, Indiana. Both facilities engage kids with bold, interactive exhibits that educate and entertain.

One of the most popular exhibits is "All About Me," pictured here. Kids use a computer to answer questions, take their picture, and measure their height. All of the information collected is printed on a postcard that provides a tangible reminder of all they learned at the HealthWorks! museum.

The height measurement in the "All About Me" exhibit is powered by Senix ultrasonic sensors. Kids stand under sensors hidden in the shadows of the ceiling and see their height magically displayed on the computer screen.

Senix sensors measure the presence or size of people in a wide range of kiosks and exhibits, but we are particularly proud of the small role we play in the HealthWorks! mission.
