Senix customers using the venerable ULTRA-U or ULTRA-U-SS ultrasonic sensors can replace them with either ToughSonic 14 or ToughSonic 30 sensors depending on measurement range and mounting requirements. ULTRA-U sensors have been a popular choice in various conversion applications for more than 20 years.  Thousands are still in service on winders, unwinders, web and roll handling machines around the world.

Our current ToughSonic sensors are superior to ULTRA-U sensors in almost every way.  They use more precise and more rugged piezoelectric transducers and more sophisticated control hardware and software.  They are also rated IP-68 for more challenging operating environments and they now include the higher performance RS-485 serial data interface option. The key operational differences between the ULTRA-U models and their ToughSonic replacements are illustrated in the table below.
